Mini is the English name of a car produced from 1959 to today, with various brands and from different manufacturers, both in England and in other countries.

The history of the Mini is very complex and goes through all the vicissitudes of the House that the British car industry was producing in origin: the British Motor Corporation.

In the mid-'50s the newly BMC had the need, in light of the Crisis in the Suez Canal in 1956 which led sensitive increases in fuel prices, to build a car from the city, small and inexpensive, but capable of delivering at least 4 people. Leonard Lord, helmsman of the BMC, the engineer entrusted with the task of Greek origin, Alec Issigonis. Issigonis was a masterpiece, thanks to the provision of transverse front engine, the replacement mounted under the engine (with sump only) and front-wheel drive, the car, just 303 centimeters long, it could accommodate (with discrete space) 4. The body was in 2 volumes with 2 doors.

Other modern elements were provided by the independent wheel suspension with rubber elastic elements (instead of springs), the 10-inch wheels (to limit the invasiveness of the fenders inside) and the luggage compartment door (itself angusto and occupied, for 1 / 4, from the fuel tank) folding down (as well as the plaque, which was always visible) to carry bulky packages.

The engine was a classic A-Series (with a camshaft side), with a small 848cc engine capacity, power and power to the carburetor 34 hp. To do so enter the small room, Issigonis had to move the radiator on the left side of the engine.

To contain the costs of production, the hinges and seams (masked by gocciolatoi) were visible.

The vehicle he made his debut on 26 August 1959, with Austin and Morris brands. Both the Austin Seven that the Morris Mini Minor (these names) were available in the standard fittings and De Luxe.

The Mini s'affermò quite slowly, because of originality and aesthetic quality of some initial problems. Slowly, however, became an extraordinary success and the audience appreciated it even more surprising talents: the extraordinary agility (like a kart) and exceptional road holding.
