
The engine was a BMW built in Brazil, with electronic injection and sixteen valves controlled by a single camshaft aspirated and supercharged version of a volumetric compressor. Powers were 90 horses (One), 115 horses (Cooper) and 163 horses for the sporty Cooper S, only arrived the following year. The starting price of the Mini was 14,551 euros and 16,051 euros under the One for One deluxe with air conditioning, radio, dashboard polished silver and standard fog lights.
In 2002 the range of enriched Mini One D, driven by a 4-cylinder common rail 1.4-liter Toyota home from 75 horses. In 2003 came the Mini Cabriolet with retractable roof canvas, versions De Luxe One, Cooper and Cooper S, with the same engines (except for the 1.4 diesel) and the same powers of the sedan. The following year came the elaborations John Cooper Works, which allowed him to raise the engine power of the Cooper and Cooper S (the latter up to 200 horses). This kit included a new block which increases the compression ratio, the reprogramming of the electronic engine management, a special air filter, and the replacement of the exhaust with a normal steel.
