The GT-R is the heir of the Skyline GTR 34, sports coupé designed by Nissan Motor.
In 2001 Nissan began developing the new generation of GTR in Tokyo by presenting the first concept of what will be the future of Japanese car series most powerful ever built. In 2005 is exposed to the second prototype, and 2 years after the version made ready for marketing.
The new GTR is a car conceptually different from previous versions, these versions were in fact "more thrusts of normal sedans, this is the result of a well-defined project aimed at building a true supercar. This intention is expressed through the abandonment of the name in favor of Skyline single symbol GTR
The new motor, bi-turbo 3.8-liter, with specific devices such as plasma coating of the cylinders can deliver around 480 hp (statement of Nissan, one can not have a precise number because all the engines are made by hand, America has been tested a Nissan GT-R with 507 hp) and 588 Nm of torque between 3200 and 5200 rpm.
The transmission is integral to the type transaxle: dual clutch, the splitter box, the final reduction gear, limited slip differential to have been positioned at the rear of the car in order to balance the weight of the front engine and guarantee an allocation of weights 53 -- 47%.
The system allows to dynamically distribute the power from a 50-50% distribution between the two axles to the rear wheel drive. The gearbox is operated via paddles placed on the back of the steering wheel, but can also operate automatically, allows fast change in just 200 milliseconds.
The frame is constructed with lightweight and durable materials such as aluminum and steel-reinforced, this has enabled us to contain the weight of the car to 1740 Kg
All of these factors, combined with an aerodynamic excellent (cx 0.27), allow the new GTR to achieve speeds of 310 km / h to reach stationary 100 km / h in under 3.5 seconds.
The dynamic qualities of this car were also demonstrated by the tests on the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit was that the trail in just 7 minutes and 29 seconds.
In the video game Need for Speed: Pro Street is also a prototype of the GT-R, with the name of Nissan GT-R Proto
In the video game Need for Speed: Undercover is the final version of the GT-R with the name of Nissan GT-R (R-35)
